Hi, I'm Kelly

content strategist
editorial expert
seo translator
plant lady
polka dot enthusiast

I help home, garden, and lifestyle brands develop content that ranks, reflects their voice, and builds real trust.

I’ve spent the last decade helping brands tell better stories—not just the kind that look pretty on a page, but the kind that actually move people.

I’ve led content strategy for powerhouse publishers like Forbes, Angi, and Better Homes & Gardens, where I managed editorial teams, built scalable systems, and made sure our content didn’t just get clicks—it built trust. At one point, I was overseeing 600+ articles a month. (Yes, really. And no, I didn’t sleep much.)

But the work I’m proudest of? It’s when a brand connects with the right person and helps them turn an idea into an I-did-it, or makes their home or life just a bit better.

That’s why I started Kelly Reilly Content—to bring editorial-level strategy to the brands who can use it to make the everyday more beautiful.

my philosophy

I believe content strategy isn’t just about getting seen — it’s about building trust that compounds over time.

For home, garden, and lifestyle brands especially, content should do more than fill a feed. It should educate, inspire, and position you as the expert long before someone clicks “inquire” or “add to cart.”

Whether it’s attracting organic search traffic, nurturing future clients through email, or showcasing your expertise while you’re in the garden, on a job site, or off the clock, your content should feel like an extension of your brand — not a second full-time job you didn’t sign up for.

I believe you need a content strategy — a system that helps you:
  • Gain clarity on what to say and how to say it
  • Create consistency that feels sustainable
  • Align your content with what you actually sell
  • Turn helpful education into long-term visibility

Off the Page

I’m a Midwesterner through and through, rooted in Iowa with my super-supportive husband, two sweet and wild boys, and one very cute English cream retriever who not-so-secretly runs the show.

When I’m not in front of a screen, you'll find me:

  • Tending to my ever-growing garden (Master Gardener certified, deeply believe there's always room for just one more plant)
  • Not reading the book club pick, but still showing up for the discussion
  • Dreaming up my next house project
  • Planning my next themed get-together like it’s the Met Gala
  • Wondering if “lifelong learner” is just code for “can’t stop enrolling in things” (see: JD and MBA)
